Jan 21, 2012 - The reason for the crash was not high speed alone but was the low sun sure if everyone was driving at 10mph the crash would have been non fatal maybe but it would still have occurd

Jan 21, 2012 - serves them right, driving at high speed and acutally not able to see anything because of the low sun constitutes suicide.

Jan 21, 2012 - How can you say that? It was a combination of speed and driving conditions. Change one of these conditions and you get a different result. Ie. Higher sun, better visibility = no accident. Lower speed, more reaction time = no accident. This accident is the result of not driving to the road conditions and could have been avoided with a lower speed.

Jan 21, 2012 - Not true. Imagine there's an obstacle 5m in front of you while you are travelling at 5m/s. At that speed your braking distance will be 2m, and if your reaction time is say 0.5s then you will travel an extra 2.5m before stopping. You won't hit the obstacle. However if you double the speed you quadruple the braking distance and double the thinking distance. This means at 10m/s you'll travel 5m during reacting and 8m during. Now consider that 90mph is equivilant to 40m/s...

Jan 22, 2012 - driving a 145 k/h in the rain on an outdated old freeway..... in the rain; leaves no room for error. That road should be speed limited to 110km/h MAX
