Oct 26, 2010 - Gayle, I recomend starting to play right away. On my website I have a blog post on how to begin wire wrapping. They won't let me post a link here but it's under "blog trade articles" on the left menu on my website magpiegemstonescom. Thanks for the kind words they are very appreciated.

Dec 30, 2010 - Wonderful video! I am just starting and others have called the messy wire look as organic and I guess that is OK but I really like the clean/perfect look.

Feb 5, 2011 - Thank you for these. I really appreciate the time, effort and thought you put into them and I always learn something - even when it's something I already knew how to do.

Feb 5, 2011 - Oh thanks for taking the time to comment. I appreciate your kind words and I'm glad I could offer any insights at all.

Feb 16, 2011 - I love your videos. Could you wear short sleeves or roll your sleeves up so that there is not a shadow over the project though? I know you're gonna hate me for saying this :D I'm so sorry, I just had a hard time seeing since this isn't in 720. I love your tutorials though. I'm new to wire wrapping. THANKS!!

MagpieGemstonescom mowi:

Feb 16, 2011 - In the videos I did after that I wore no sleeves so people could see the wire wrapping easier. Hopefully they will just keep getting better instead of worse (grin). I appreciate the kind words.

Mar 2, 2011 - So many people charge money now just to show us how to do something, and I cannot thank you enough for sharing your expertise with us!

Jun 1, 2011 - Thank you so much for explaining this. It is always the tiny tiny points that make a huge difference. I tried with round two days ago and got so frustrated I went back to square. I'll try the round again.

MagpieGemstonescom mowi:

Jun 1, 2011 - I think the trick with round is to use a smaller gauge for the binding wires and not to hit every turn too hard with the pliers. Good luck, I hope it works out! (oh and make sure the wire is dead soft).

MetalGrannie mowi:

Jul 9, 2011 - What gauge half-round wire are you using, please?

MagpieGemstonescom mowi:

Jul 9, 2011 - I don't recall, it is probably 21 guage 1/2 round.

Aug 7, 2011 - Thank you for the time you have taken to show us your craft. I have learned on my own, of course, I have done it the hard way. Please continue to show us ....

MagpieGemstonescom mowi:

Aug 7, 2011 - I also learnt on my own and did it the hard way.The good thing about that is that I have come up with designs or techniques I have never seen anyone else do! Thanks for the kind words and I am getting more videos ready in this series.

Aug 22, 2011 - Just wanted to let you know that your tutorials are very helpful. I started this craft without direction (and pulled a lot of hair out LOL). Thank you... NCB

Jan 2, 2012 - Totally enjoy your personality and your video tutorials. If I can critic just 2 things: the videos are a bit too dark. The other is that the sound is off and does not match your lips or hammering actions. I truly do thank you for the great lessons. Ah,BTW, can any copper wire found at a hardware store be used for jewelry? Why does copper need to be tumbled? I thought only sterling silver had to be tumbled. Thank You. GB58able

MagpieGemstonescom mowi:

Jan 2, 2012 - The reasons to tumble metal - to harden it, to clean it, and to remove burrs and you need to do all of those things at certain times to copper. Yes I am not even close to a professional videographer .... snort. We keep doing our best to improve them.My daughter (10) is my photographer and she is growing in leaps and bounds daily in her skill set. I get my copper from hardware stores, recycle yards, and when I need square of half round I buy it from jewelry supply shops.

Jan 15, 2012 - Very clear, good vid, I especially appreciated the time explaining why you pinched the wrapping wire!.

Mar 21, 2012 - I'm still trying to learn to use the square wire and half round wire for the bundles. I am horrible at it so far. I still can't get the wires straight enough to keep them perfectly from overlapping as I wrap even with the square wire.

Apr 19, 2012 - Hi, I did enjoy this tutorial, very well explained. Thankyou

talkorsing1114 mowi:

Apr 24, 2012 - so you wrap the full round wires with the half round one/ And do you put the flat side of the half round against the round wires or the round part of the half round? Thanks!

ssszarka mowi:

Apr 24, 2012 - In this instance I am using a half round to bind (you can use round to bind round but it's a struggle) - yes always put the flat part of the half round against the item you are binding. I am appreciate your question - thanks for letting me clarify.
