May 18, 2012 - I don't see blind people going around asking for job applications to be bus drivers or pilots and then screaming discrimination when they are rejected.

May 18, 2012 - I mean I have to hire another co-worker for a worker.? I don't mean to be rude or offensive, this just a simple discussion so please no harm feeling..

May 18, 2012 - How should deaf people earn a living, feed themselves, raise children, etc.?
otsukareinyaa mowi:
May 18, 2012 - So are you implying your shop is so small, you would only have one employee?? But you said deaf people would be fine working in a small shop, and now you're saying otherwise. You would already have people working there, correct? So it would be easy to learn basic signs for coffee, milk, chocolate, cold, hot. I knew all those signs at 2 years old, as they are very basic signs, and they are easy for any person to learn in a day. Even if not, they can learn to face the deaf person for lipreading.
otsukareinyaa mowi:
May 18, 2012 - Uhh... I wasn't aware that being deaf means the person is unhealthy. What the actual..

May 18, 2012 - ....... Really? That's not even close to the same level as this. It's not like she's looking for a job doing air patrol (or whatever those people do in the aeroplane towers with the headphones) ... She's looking for a job making coffee. Last time I checked, making coffee doesn't require hearing nor does it threaten lives if the person making it can't hear. FFS.

May 22, 2012 - u know wt,u r lucky if u hv ur five senses intact....but it remains to be seen how long they will be intact with this genius brain.

May 22, 2012 - Quite ironic, judging from the way you present yourself.

May 23, 2012 - Honestly it would be hard for her to work there she would need an interpretation she would have to be constantly directed to whomever is talking and so on and so forth. I wouldn't hire someone impaired such as that if I had the choice between them and a fully capable person.
mcmxcivjm mowi:
May 24, 2012 - Sorry but this would NEVER happen out in the open like this.
bananawafflez mowi:
May 25, 2012 - That's the whole point -___-
mcmxcivjm mowi:
May 25, 2012 - And why is that the "whole point"? It would never happen, so why would they test it? It's like doing a "What Would You Do If: you saw a guy doing pushups with a Barbie in his mouth" - it's never going to happen, so why would they waste their time with it?

May 25, 2012 - I've suspected prejudice in not being hired because 1) being a male in professions in which the preference appears to be for females 2) being too old 3) being unattractive 4) not being cool. These may not seem as big a challenge as being hearing-challenged, but I'd ask anyone reading this to at least consider what I've said to be true. The last one, especially, might seem a bizarre claim, but it does happen. The segment interestingly notes the code term for wrongful rejection: "Not a fit."
berealmuslims mowi:
May 25, 2012 - This actually may happen in real life! And that is messed up that he didnt hire a deaf person! She may be deaf, but i bet she is better than him in many ways! He isn't supposed to look at what she's lacking, instead, look at her positive traits!
berealmuslims mowi:
May 25, 2012 - I agree with u! And it happens! Its just that unfortunately, we have many ignorant people in this world that think they are too good, and should not be nice and open minded! Unfortunately, this is how many of the people in this world are!
bananawafflez mowi:
May 25, 2012 - That's the whole point of the show.. to see how the public reacts. x___x And the barbie example isn't a good one, because this show tries to see how people react to social issues.. "gay couple in a restaurant" "abusive boyfriend" and stuff like that ^.^
bananawafflez mowi:
May 25, 2012 - Also, the episodes are based on situations that have happened before :P
mcmxcivjm mowi:
May 25, 2012 - Exactly..This likely never happened before. I'm sure it happens all the time behind closed doors but no manager is that much of a dick to do all of that in front of his store & customers.
bananawafflez mowi:
May 25, 2012 - And again.. that's the whole point of the show <.<
mcmxcivjm mowi:
May 25, 2012 - You JUST said "the episodes are based on situations that have happened before"...Then I say that this likely never happened, and you say "that's the whole point of the show" - Make up your FUCKING mind. Episodes like the yelling at a waitress, vandalizing car, someone can't fix a tire, comply or question authority, kidnapping, etc.. are all based on ACTUAL, LIKELY situations. You're on fucking crack. Make up your mind what you're trying to say.
bananawafflez mowi:
May 25, 2012 - Why are you swearing? That's unnecessary <.<" I didn't say anything bad to you.. I don't know how to explain it well because English is not my native tongue sorry ._.
bananawafflez mowi:
May 25, 2012 - And what I meant is that the whole point of the show is to see what the public does ^.^

May 18, 2012 - Being both of two ethnic minority groups (Jewish--Ashkenazic, and Hispanic--Iberian, Spanish) and a person with Cerebral Palsy among other conditions, I can tell you that being an ethnic minority is easier than a disabled person. The disabled are the last class of people whom society can discriminate against.
