Sep 11, 2011 - is it the front seal leaking or the cover, if its the front seal its a peace of cake. if its the low profile style plastic cover. that will needs to be replaced. your going pretty deep, water pump needs to be removed, the hardest part in doing this job is dropping the oil pan. due to the style of the cover,

Sep 13, 2011 - yea thats what i have the plastic cover it has a crack in it thats what my mechanic said he put the uv light and oil in it he told me that there is a good crack in it so my only real choice is to drop the oil pan and try it or pay him 800 for it i have never done a timeing chain cover do you think 800 is a good price for him to fix it thx all so he is putting a new oil pan gasket on it to thx for your held robinsonauto

Oct 23, 2011 - Still working on truck i just parked it now need to move it. what am i looking for to find out if i need to drop the oil pan and after that what am i looking for at the bottom

automotiveDIY mowi:

Oct 29, 2011 - i hope you replaced the pushrods since you didn't mark where they go. they are different lengths

robinsonsauto mowi:

Oct 29, 2011 - i believe i reused the old ones, this job was done awhile ago. i did a few engine jobs since that required new pushrods and some others that didn't, i cant say for sure however i think i reused them on this particular job. i inspect them lay em out and go from there, after making the vids i noticed allot of things i didn't cover, after doing this stuff so long it just comes natural and i tend not to cover things as well i should of, but that's how we improve right? thanks, will

automotiveDIY mowi:

Oct 29, 2011 - yah on the vortecs its important to mark where the pushrods go, because the exhaust ones are a few thousanths of an inch shorter

robinsonsauto mowi:

Oct 29, 2011 - yea its things like that i need to start pointing out in the vids sometimes its hard to cover everything when your on the clock, if you know what i mean, hopefully one day i can take it to a more advanced level

robinsonsauto mowi:

Oct 29, 2011 - just as a little quiz, whats the stock length of the push rods? i already know. only because i build performance engines. and need to change them accordantly

automotiveDIY mowi:

Oct 29, 2011 - 7.8" intake 7.795" exhaust

Nov 27, 2011 - You were using a cordless impact wrench i noticed. In your opinion do those cordless and electric impact wrenches work just as good as the air tools? Thank you

robinsonsauto mowi:

Nov 27, 2011 - some come close. i love the cordless. they came a long way. however you still need to be realistic they get weaker as the battery drains so you need at least 2 batteries and a speed charger that will solve that issue, bigger things like over tightened lug nuts you may need to break them by hand first where as a good air impact would most likely break them loose, good question if you dont mind stop over to my website toolsandtime post this question in the forum. i can cover this more

robinsonsauto mowi:

Jan 11, 2012 - nope i used a puller, i caught the tail end of that while editing. looking back i should have covered that more... you can catch a shot of the puller right before i pulled it off

Jan 11, 2012 - Hey, I was wondering where your shop is located. I live in tennessee and I have A 97 4x4 tahoe I am Planning to rebuild from the block up with High performance parts and an msd ignition system setup.. It has a vortec engine just like this one. I could do the work myself, but the problem is I don't have a garage or shop to work on it. I was wondering if you would be interested in doing it and how much you charge. I would also be willing to let you show a tutorial on it.

Jan 12, 2012 - do i need a pulley puller to pull the gears off the engine for the timing chain or is there another way without spending the money on a puller?

May 12, 2012 - Hello, i was wondering, i own a 94 GMC Sierra K1500, half of my tailpipe is gone but my headgaksets arent blown from what i can tell, but my pickup doesnt like to keep oil ? it doesnt like to keep fluid in the radiator either, i was wondering do you know what the cause behind this might be ? i think for the radiator problem just a hole in the radiator somewhere or a bad line or bad water pump, but i Do Not know about the not keeping oil thing, please help, thanks in advance.
